For a long time now I have been a fan of the band Twenty One Pilots. Their music and lyrics are very inspirational and relatable. Especially their older songs have lyrics which are full of awesome metaphors and imagery. When I listen to them I get all these images and ideas in my head - it's almost like watching a movie - and I feel a strange need to get them down on paper. So instead of trying to animate these images I drew them in a comic-book-type of way. I think it is a fun idea, and you can do it for pretty much any song. Of course there are some songs that have more story-based lyrics, but really it come down to the imagination.
These pages were based on the song "March To The Sea" by Twenty One Pilots. I took the lyrics very litterally, because I loved the metaphors, and instead played with the color scheme and very uniform look of the landscape and people.
I used my Prismacolor "colored" pencils in grey, white and black as well as the Artline fineliners in 0,05 mm, 0,1 mm and 0,5 mm.
Thanks for reading! I hope to see you again soon.
