Hello there. As a fairly busy individual, I rarely have the time to read all the books I want to read. Therefore, vacations are essential to my literary education, as they are the only periods in which I can allow myself to read just for the sake of reading. And I love reading - from the moment I learned how, I would spend every waken moment not in school, reading. In books I could escape into worlds more strange and fantastic than my wildest fantasies. I could drown out my surroundings and live among witches, dragons, king and queens, and magic. My own life started to feel so dull and grey, that I only longed for the stories to escape to. But then I started high school. Suddenly, reading fanstasy books (or books in general) wasn't cool and everyone around me started getting interested in other stuff like makeup and fashion. So, I put books on the shelf for a while. But now I'm a lot more motivated to read and understand the value you get from reading.
I chose three books to read while I'm away:
I have only just started 4 3 2 1, and so far it is amazing. Auster really does write phenomenally. My first encounter with his work was actually in my English class in school. We read "City of Glass", a part of his New York Trilogy and I just remember being blow away at the complexity and thoughtfulness put into the novel. Every word was important and every detail essential.
I was actually very content with my Auster novel (as it is more than 1000 pages long), but when I went into a book store in Miami I finally saw the two books I have been wanting forever! "Note To Self" is like a visual work of art. without reading a word I knew it would inspire many creative thoughts in me regarding photography and art. "Turtles All The Way Down" I just had to own. Even though I have read all John Green's books, they continue to move me. There are so many beautiful analogies, metaphors and thoughts in his writing that leaving it on the shelf was out of the question. When I bought it, I even got these little post-its, a bookmark and a magnet. I would love to hear what your favourite book is! Until next time <3
